Favorite genre to read is probably cop mysteries/thrillers, tied with cozy mysteries
Lately, I love Louise Penny (cozy mysteries) and Michael Connelly (copy thrillers)

Sorry, I should have clarified – ABA stands for American Booksellers Association – CBA means Christian Booksellers Association. Or you might hear people say mainstream vs. Christian. In CBA all those publishers only publish Christian fiction, Zondervan, Thomas Nelson, Bethany House, Waterbrook/Multnomah to name a few. In ABA you’ll find everything else! And a lot of traditional ABA houses are buying up the Christian publishers – most recently Thomas Nelson was acquired by Harper Collins. Hope that clears up the confusion!

I’m a reader and a writer.
My favorite sub-genre to read and write is inspirational historical romance.
I have many favorite authors. A few who come to mind are Sarah Sundin, Margaret Brownley, Erica Vetsch, Laura Frantz, Deeanne Gist, and my CP Jody Hedlund. I enjoyed a book called Yesterday’s Tomorrow by a recent debut author, too. =)
Since I enjoy the faith element in the stories I read, most of the books I read are CBA.
I’m a writer and am working on self-edits to my recently completed work-in-progress while awaiting edits on my debut novel.
I’m currently reading Love on the Line by Deeanne Gist and have oodles of books in the queue.

Love Jody’s stuff. Haven’t read Erica yet. There are just SO MANY BOOKS!!! And trying to write my own at the same time…sigh…never enough time to do it all!!

I’m Bethany, strictly a reader!
I read mostly Christian fiction but within that- contemporary, mysteries…I also enjoy mainstream biographies and random books.
Favorite authors: Karen Kingsbury, Robin Jones Gunn, Kaye Dacus…
As for the ABA/CBA, I’m not even sure– I’m guessing both? I’m currently reading The Reluctant Prophet and have about 600 books on my to-read list 😉

I don’t read a lot of biographies unless it is a personality I’m really interested in. In fact I don’t tend to read non-fiction much at all. :0( I’ve tried, but again, unless it’s something I really want to know about, I tend to lose interest! There are a few recent books that are memoirs I suppose, that I’ve enjoyed, because they’ve been written more like a fictional story. The last one I read was called Jesus, My Father and The CIA. It was really good!

Hey! I’m a reader and a writer (no books out yet, though).
I’m not sure I have a favourite genre… I love historical fiction and fantasy (I’m working on a YA fantasy series and have an idea for a historical novel). I try to read a bit of everything, really.
Favourite authors… hmm… again, that’s a tough question! Sigmund Brouwer and Angela Hunt are at the top of my list, as well as Mary Demuth. I also love Betty Jane Hegerat and Isla Morley.
I read a lot of CBA because most of the publishers I review for are from that market… but lately I’ve gotten into reading “literary fiction” so that’s not CBA.
As a writer, I’m just kinda working on short stuff… my blog, some articles, and assignments for my workshops (I’m doing a BFA in creative writing at the University of Victoria).
I really want to read Esi Edugyan’s novel Half-Blood Blues this Christmas. She just won the Giller Prize here in Canada, but I’m 461 on the waitlist at the library for her novel. I might just have to buy it! 🙂

Victoria is one of my favorite places! Loved our visits there as well as Vancouver. I think it’s great to read widely in all genres. There are some I don’t read, but I do try to expand my horizons once in a while! Recently I’ve developed a love for historical fiction and there are a lot of great authors in that genre!
